About the Event

(For ENG see below)

The workshop will wind its way through various exercises until it finally results in free play. By focusing on reawakening attention to the unnecessary energy that is stored within us and to dysfunctional patterns of behavior and response, we will soon move beyond mere physicality to embrace all aspects of being. Only when we are able to recognize how much tension we accumulate in our system (physical, mental, emotional,...), we can learn how to release this tension and transform tension into real power. "Stop doing" allows the body to reactivate its natural functions organically and efficiently while the mind intervenes less and less with each step we take.

In this practice, the partner is the best mirror and allows us to playfully expand the comfort zone. We will gradually explore the exercises and tools of confrontation, which through physical experience   we will understand primarily as tools for us. Moments of free play become opportunities that open up an incessant flow of possibilities,  intuitive reactions with an open mind and an accessible body, a joint refinement of the unpredictable interplay between confrontation and collaboration.

Main topics of the workshop:

- embodiment (embodiment) of the state without resistance

- reference connection points

- working with and through fear

- interplay between confrontation and collaboration

- playfulness - play as a basic quality

About lecturers:

Ester Braga

Her background and experience mainly consist of intensive training in contemporary dance and floor-work during her studies at Trinity Laban (London), contact improvisation, instant composition, community dance and her later formation through yoga, postural and somatic approaches. Bruna met Caverna in 2014, first through Liquid Body and Becoming Animal, which later evolved into Play-Fight practice from Formless Arts; a stunning meeting became the basis of her further journey in life and in her profession. Ester currently collaborates in the main team of the Formless Arts Organization and works as a Play-Fight lecturer in Europe, teaching regular exercise classes in Bologna (Italy), where she lives. She is currently deepening her research between Play-Fight and Contact Improvisation and is working on integrating her important experience in Yoga panorama within Formless Arts activities.

Francesca Romano

As a child, she was engaged in dance and movement. Over the years she has gone through Artistic Gymnastics, modern and contemporary dance, contact improvisation, dance theatre, performance art and worked with many dancers and movement researchers. In 2005, she finished her studies at the School of Drama Paoli Grassi (Milan). She worked as a dancer and movement teacher, performer and choreographer. Since 2013, she has expanded her experience with yoga and martial arts, where she gained deeper experience and knowledge about the connection between body, mind and inner space. This area of movement was a regulatory point for her study. She tried to keep a beginner's mind and openness as she began to follow this path, exploring more and more what is behind the definition itself. In 2015, she encountered the work of Bruno Cavern during the Play-Fight workshop. From that moment on, she began to follow this practice regularly, finding tools and inspirations, new ways of approaching movement and life, new ways of connecting with herself and with others. As a member of the Formless Arts team, he supports the implementation of specific projects and works as a Play-Fight lecturer.

ENG

The workshop will weave a journey through different exercises, eventually flowing into the free play. Focusing on reawakening awareness upon stored unnecessary tensions and dysfunctional patterns of reactions, we will gradually move beyond the field of mere physicality to embrace all aspects of being. Only when able to recognize how much tension we accumulate in our system (physical, mental, emotional..), by learning how to release it, we can transform the tension into real power. "Stop doing" allows the body to re-function organically and efficiently, while the mind starts interfering less and less at each step we take.

The partner in this practice is the best mirror and allows us to playfully stretch the comfort zone. We gradually explore exercises and tools for the confrontation which, through the physical experience, we understand being towards ourselves in the first place. The moments of free-play become opportunities to access a never-ending flow of possibilities, responding intuitively with an open mind and available body, crafting together an unpredictable interplay between confrontation & collaboration.

Main topics for this workshop:

> embodiment of non-resistance quality/state

> points of reference for connectivity

> work with and through fears

> interplay between confrontation & collaboration

> play as inherent fundamental quality – playfulness

The Facilitators:

Ester Braga

Her background of experiences and interests mainly interconnects intensive training in contemporary dance and floor-work during the studies at Trinity Laban (London), contact improvisation, instant composition, community dance, with her later formation into yoga, postural and somatic practices. She met Bruno Caverna in 2014, first through Liquid Body and Becoming Animal, eventually through the later development of what is now named Play-Fight practice by Formless Arts; a mind-blowing encounter which since then has been at the foundation of her journey, in life and profession.

Ester currently collaborates at the core of Formless Arts Organization and works as Play-Fight Facilitator in Europe, while teaching regular movement classes in Bologna (Italy) where she is based. At the moment she is also deepening her research in the line between Play-Fight & Contact Improvisation and integrating her important experience in the Yoga panorama within Formless Arts activities, connecting the approach from the very essence of Formless Arts philosophy.

Francesca Romano

She started her studies in dance and movement when she was a child. Over the years she went through Artistic Gymnastics, modern and contemporary dance, contact improvisation, dance theater, performing arts studying and working with many dancers and movement researchers. In 2005 she graduated from the School of Drama Paolo Grassi (Milan). She works as a dance and movement teacher, performer and choreographer. Since 2013 she has expanded her research approaching yoga and martial arts having so far a deeper experience and knowledge about connection between body, mind and inner space. This movement field was a point of revolution for her studies and she started to follow this path, researching more and more what's beyond definitions, trying to always be in a state of openness typical of the "beginner mind". It was in 2015 that she approached the work of Bruno Caverna during a Play-Fight workshop. From that moment she started to follow this practice constantly, finding in its tools important points of inspiration, new ways to approach movement and life, new ways to connect with others and herself. As a member of the Formless Arts team, she supports the realization of specific projects and works as a Play-Fight facilitator.
